Reflection for July 2001 "The
reality that is present to us and in us: call it Being...Silence.
And the single fact that by being attentive, by learning to listen ( or
recovering the natural capacity to listen); We can find ourself engulfed
in such happiness that it cannot be explained: the happiness of being at
one with everything in that hidden ground of Love for which there can be
no explanation... May we all grow in grace and peace and not neglect the
silence that is printed in the centre of our beings, It will not
fail us."
-Thomas Merton in
A Grateful heart, edited
by M.J. Ryan, p.52
This month's practices:
 | For one month, track and give
gratitude for the places of grace and peace in your life and within
your own nature.
|
 | Notice and give gratitude for all
that makes you happy and brings joy into your life.
|
 | Spend at least one half hour in
silence every day in meditation to deeply listen to the "centre
of (your) being, It will not fail (you)."
|
 | What are you learning about "the
hidden ground of Love" within you or in your life right
now? Demonstrate it with at least one action a week of
compassionate service that reduces suffering in yourself, family,
friendships and community |
